RTSoIP Borders

There's been some recent activity at my workplace that has forced me to become reengaged in RTSoIP Borders. Real Time Session over IP Borders could be considered the next evolution to the VoIP Borders. Initially there were points for peering amongst VoIP "Islands", and having peering in the way that we know and understand it within an Internet context is a ways off, but close on the heals of the VoIP Border discussion, comes all the other types of Real Time traffic that SIP can setup, establish, manipulate, etc. Here's a list of considerations floating through my mind:

- Signaling versus Bearer treatment?
- Authentication AND/OR Encryption?
- Priority and QOS at Layer 7?
- Segregation of Signaling/Bearer?
- Multimedia CAC?
- Priority Calling and Preemption?

These are exciting times and I hope to report more on those activities here soon.
